2017 Drawing Draping

The draping of softened or woven material on humans emerged a long time ago and artists from various cultures have recorded its progression. Even today, drawing draped fabric on people is commonplace for artists. There is a shape and shapelessness about drapery which is a challenge to draw and yet brings both a defining and camouflaging quality to the body.
